Waiting... Stalking... Waiting...
It is now March. My internal clock is ticking. The sound is louder and louder as each day passes reminding me the hot Texas summer is within seconds of arrival. Reminding me, I have no plants.
No plants by the driveway, waiting for placement in the planting areas. No plants in the sunny window waiting to be placed in their bright shiny vessel homes. No plants pushing their way out of their nursery containers longing for larger containment.
I have been shopping...window shopping the plant world of my new home area. Checking out the nurseries, looking at their wares, what type of plant material carried, whose staff appears to be knowledgeable, who is organic.
Oh, I have been tempted. Some Arapaho blackberries along the fence would be nice. Some pretty Mexican feather grass to plant in some of the hot spots along the parking areas. Nope, I'm not doing it. Not yet.
Looking back my caution is a bit of reminiscent of a time many years back.
Let me see, was it 1996 and again in 2000? The winters of my undoing. Too many cold nights pushing the limits of my zone denial. Perhaps caution, perhaps defeat. No, not defeat -- regrouping.
I am the eternal gardener. I am a plant collector. I am just regrouping. I will be making my triumphant return very, very soon...
(BTW - I have linked this posting with the bright posies to Noel's Hot Loud and Proud meme. Be sure to stop by!)

I am SO with you. I've done fairly well so far restraining myself. There are those chard seeds I planted that surely are happy in 27 degree weather - ha! Soon - we will all be happily gardening. Have a good day,
This is going to be a strange year for me, TG! No new herbs and seeds because we are going to be traveling at gardening times this season! I will just have to wait and watch your garden grow!
I can see why you'd be cautious....you're part of the 'northerner' crowd now, LOL!
Here it was 103F a couple of days ago, and today has been pleasantly cool- weird Texas weather!
Greetings from Southern California
I added myself to follow your blog. I invite you to visit mine and follow me if you want too.
God bless you :-)

I admire your restraint. I could use some of that. We bought a new house and last spring I went crazy and bought tons of plants that I had no idea of where I would put them. My lack of planning has made things somewhat chaotic.
That restraint is also known as experience...good girl! My girlfriend made me laugh the other day because she said we were going to draw out plans and make lists...yeah, right! Ok, I'll try...
oh this must be killing you. You could come up to North Carolina and try to wipe my garden back into shape. I'll even buy stuff.
aloha,
i'm sure you are ready to get started, i'm sure its just around the corner, thank you for linking to the meme meanwhile.
My crocus haven't even bloomed yet and the garden centers are peddling plants like crack dealers at a Oops! Engage brain filter! The nurseries are packed with pansies and I'm trying to resist. Still too cold.
Hang tough, girlfriend! It's coming...then we'll all be complaining about the heat!! :D
It's been a case of enforced restraint here ... a result of being so busy cleaning up after Yasi. I think it's the only way to go sometimes ... time to re-group sometimes allows a greater focus. Good luck with your soon-to-be planting. Love the Gazanias!
Oh, don't worry - you'll be complaining about the heat soon enough! But I understand about wanting blooms ASAP! Nice to find another Texan.
