End of a Chapter

Closed up the house and signed the papers to the new owner yesterday.

Got everything out of the house and the yard. My sweetie emptied the "berry boat". It is in storage now waiting for a place to call home. We are going to stay in the current small rent house until we find "the rent house" for us and the future.

While clearing the bits from the yard, my sweetie yells, "We have fruit!"
"Fruit, there is no fruit, you just emptied the berry boat."

Our burr oak tree gave us our first 2 acorns! A little something to take with us to the next place.

It's been a long year called 2010. I started this blog in 2009 as a way for my husband to see what I was up to at the house while he was in a different city (250 miles away) at yet another new job. My husband being a skilled tradesman in the manufacturing industry has been through a business sold and down-sized, a business closed, a place I told him to quit or I would call OSHA, a place to just make a dollar, contract jobs, and a layoff.

This time I told him to "find the job," no matter where it was, that would match his skills. With the dream that it would be in Texas, he has found and been in his current position for 18 months now. This is not a done deal as there are always rumblings and even the other day we learned a part of the assembly will be moving to Mexico. The manufacturing world is not a save place to be these days.

We have experienced everything you hear about in the news these last few months. The unemployment, the struggle to make the cobra payments, the bill collectors calling, and calling. Most companies were helpful, let us delay a payment but the mortgage company never was. (As a matter of fact they even called again this morning.) Fortunately we were not underwater so we will pay off the bill collectors but we will not buy again. For now we will be free as the wind and see how the next chapter begins.

Congratulations on getting out of a bad situation. We are going through the same struggles - bad economic times. Enjoy the freedom, your family, and a very happy holiday season.
Hang in there...

Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts over the last few months. It seems that many of us in the blogging world are going through the same thing - one way or another.

I did not share all the grim situations we have been through in this move and house sale adventure but just bits to let others know you are not alone. The folks I have met through this blogging experience have been a big part of me keeping my sanity. Again, I thank you.

Keep your mind open and always find one good thing in every day.

I'm catching up on your blog. Good news things are done on the old house. So glad you got the berry boat out of there. I Love it. Sorry it's been such a rough go, but it sounds like you have kept your heads above water. I wish you the very best for the coming year and beyond.
