Rare Sight

Yes, I have seen the moon and Venus before - it's just it is a rare event to peek out the front door and 12 porch lights are not lit. This was taken on the night setting.

The tripod is in storage so I took about 50 photos and came up with these two. This photo was taken with the auto setting - you can actually see the "earth shine".

Want to see other views of the sky? SkyWatch Friday.

What is in the sky tonight?

Beautiful night shots. Is the tiny dot Venus? I have never seen it before. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.

Not bad for no tripod. mine would have been very shaky.

Yeah, I can do that too - 50 shots for one good one. I don't think I have ever seen the moon and venus in the sky together that alone taken a shot of them WITH A HAND HELD CAMERA!

Good perservering ...

Very nice! I need to do some sky watching tonight. Wonder if it's noticeable from my angle?
