Good News, Bad News

First, let me apologize for my blurry photos. The news was so incredible I was jumping for joy.

Bad news, the cold front coming through is going to push Tropical Storm Lee eastward and Texas will get no rain from him. Good news, Lee's circular motion will enable the front to come in faster and will be cooler than expected.

Look at the night time lows!

The record for days over 100 degrees in the Fort Worth /Dallas area is 69 days (1980). As of Friday, we were at 67. Maybe Lee will be the break we need. (As of Saturday = 68 days above 100.)

Still with the good, comes a little more bad news. The front coming in on Sunday will bring some rather strong winds and has put us in an extreme fire alert warning. Fires are still burning just 100 miles west of FW and I know Oklahoma has been battling some of their own for days now.

Today's mantra: soft gentle winds and cooling temperatures for all. Oh, and Lee fizzles out quickly.

Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!

Lee has been a great disappointment. Rain where it's not needed, nor wanted. No rain here, where it's desperately desired. I do worry about fires - there's so many dead trees, any spark could cause great damage.

Those temps look a lot better. But I can totally relate to the fire danger issue. We face that too. I will be sending thoughts of soft breezes or at least not gusty winds.

A break in the temperatures for awhile, but no rain? Let's hope the weather people are wrong about the high winds, that is just what you do not need.

I wish I could send you our drizzly, misty weather, it would be perfect to end the drought.

Maybe this will be the beginning of a new weather trend...cross my fingers for you. Stay safe...and have a happy holiday weekend as well.

I was really hoping Lee would drench TX. At least you're cooling off for a few days.

Here's a plant that I think might be Texas-proof:

I saw this and thought of your garden. :o)

Your area really needs to catch a weather break. Hope the fire does not blow in any closer. Nobody needs that to worry about.

Tufa Girl - this has been the most peculiar weather year (at least it sure seems so). Every morning I watch (and pray) you all in TX get a break from this freakishly hot weather. Glad to see you have a few nights of reprieve on the calendar.

(Now I shall go do a 'rain dance' in your honor. The double-bonus, I can embarrass my teenagers!) :)
