A Bit of Tuesday Weather and Back to the Tour

This storm went on to set off storm sirens, dump hail on fans in Rangers Stadium but no serious damage. (Pardon my finger at the end. Darn amateur videographers.)

Now, back to The Garden Conservancy tour and Blue Lotus Gardens.

An Austin, Texas style garden near the heart of Dallas. Cedar style decorative fencing and desert plants in a tall berm to provide quick drainage when all the rain comes.

I know I am going to like this yard. Water provided in this old wash tub.

This is not Dallas, anymore.

A kettle is planted on one of the dead branches of this tree.

Corragated tin walls are currently the rage in Austin yards these days. Could it become mainstream here?

A forest of sedum filled fountains.

Beehives provide the nightstands for the flowerbed.

No backyard would be complete without chickens.

A beautiful rain catchment system.

I think the locals liked the place. Did you?

so much to say:

I do not like the corrugated walls. They look hot and reflective. I would feel like a baked potato in that yard in the summer.

I like the Indian diety art. I should know who the elephant god is maybe Krisna, anyway I like it a lot.

The graffiti, meh

I have always had mixed feeling about beds in the garden. That goes for most forms of furniture.

Great tour.

First, the storm cloud video was scary, though I liked the way it turned pink. Thank goodness no tornadoes came out of it.

I have never seen corrugated tin walls before; that's different. There's a lot of originality going on in this garden, more ideas than I'd ever come up with. Love the chicken tractor. The wash tubs are much nicer than the ones I use every week with my wringer washer, but at least they're being put to good use.

I guess it's not really my favorite style of garden, but it definitely has character and creativity and that's what gardening is all about, expressing yourself and doing what you love.

Karen, be sure not to catch your arm in the wringer... that smarts.

I too paused to consider the corrugated walls. They were very interesting. I like metal so much it's odd to reject any metal, but I guess I thought there was too much of it. But I really enjoyed the garden. Lots of creative ideas. So glad everyone is safe in your area.

Not so crazy about the tin walls...maybe if they weren't so new looking I'd like them better. A little rust and patina can do wonders :) The rest of the garden is beautiful! Cool storm video too!

Yes, very Austin-y, complete with art! I wonder if all those plants will winter over well. The storm here put on a good show, but in the end we only got 3/10". Very disappointing. I noticed no one like the corrugated tin. I kind of like it, but am wondering if it makes the garden hotter. Maybe that's how they keep the cacti happy!

So glad you didn't get any tornadoes...a storm came through briefly this morning (5am) with hail for about 30 seconds and rain for maybe a minute and a half ;/

I would never have guessed that was a Dallas garden...very cool.
