Lance Berkman was born in Waco, Texas in 1976. He graduated from Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas in 1994. He then attended Rice University playing on the Owls baseball team, where he was named the 1997 National College Player of the Year. Drafted to the Astros minor leagues to join the majors in 1999 mid season to spend the first 11.5 years of his career with the Houston Astros.

On July 31, 2010, Berkman was traded to the New York Yankees. Started out with a
few jitters but Lance has hit the big time. Since I can't get to Minute Maid Park as easily I will have to schedule my baseball outings for Rangers games when the Yankees are in town.
