Ok, guys, what is the correct name of this?
I have "googled" Night blooming Cereus and Orchid cactus.... Not a Night blooming Cereus as they have a rounded stem? Not an orchid cactus as the blooms do not seem to match this one?
I would appreciate your help.
Note to my sweetie.... I got a piece of this plant from Chrissy years ago. I put in on the base of the pot of the Forest Pansy redbud tree. It has laid there for years (at least 3) and this year it really took off growing.
Let the dogs out the back door this morning (slept in 7:30 - it's my day off) and saw this huge white bloom. I have missed one flower bloom - probably happened on the 4th the actual Full Moon. There are more buds waiting in the wings for their moment in the dark. ;D

I don't know what this is but I want it! You have launched me on a mission.
oh, also what does the rest of the plant look like.
I bet whatever it is, it won't grow in the humid south.
http://alwaysgrowing.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/september-garden-bloggers-muse-day/ - I found you a contact with what seems to be an identical variety.
Wow! That is exactly like the ones I have! Any little piece will root. And they do bloom at night, so probably it is a night blooming cereus or "queen of the night". I've seen them in different colors too on the internet.
Humid South - Are you kidding? It is 80 degrees and 70+% humidity today. I think it would be ok without a lot of watering. Maybe keep it on a porch or patio and bring in during the winter.
So far I found this info at Dave's Garden http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2100/
What do you think?
Nice link to the poetry, Lifeshighway. Email your address - I will send you a piece.

I have a night-blooming cereus and the blooms are very similar. I think it looks like your find on Dave's garden. The bloom is a little different on my cereus, but Dave's has yours.
I haven't seen this before - it's beautiful! I want one!
Very beautiful flower!
I will keep an eye open in case I see it around.
Thank you very much for participating on the carnival! I really appreciate it a lot.
wow, gorgeous flower. Looks like something I would only ever be able to grow indoors (I envy you southern gardeners!)
Hello there Tufa Girl : )
I think another blogger in this meme had posted on a similar flower called "One Night Bride" .. they are amazing plants no matter the name !
Beautiful flower : )

It is a beauty. I have a Epiphyllum
oxypetalum with similar foliage but my flowers are different.
Whatever it is specifically, it's absolutely beautiful! L
That's gorgeous! I'm glad you got to see it blooming, too. It's too bad something that beautiful is so sneaky.
